Graysen's World Traveler Nursery

Graysen's nursery is done! Well, except for one rack of hooks and one shelf to hang. Here are some pictures to show you all what we have been working on!

I am so excited about this nursery! I love the colors, the theme, everything! It's my favorite room in the house I think!

I got those paper balls at Hancock Fabric. They are Martha Stewart's Brand. 

It came with 6 in 3 different blue/green colors. 

You can see the rack of hooks and the shelf sitting in on our changing pad that still need to be hung up in this corner. That will get done this week. (Hopefully!) I should have taken a picture of the top drawer. It's all organized with everything needed for diaper changes. The cute gDiapers look great all lined up! We also have some disposable newborn diapers which we will start with rather than using the cloth right away. We don't want the dreaded "black stuff" all over them! Plus, someone gave us a bunch. 

I love the vintage map we hung above the crib. Being teachers, we feel it's never too early for educational things like geography! :)

This shows the "Oh the places you'll go!" sign that I made to fit our "world traveler" theme. It's hard to see but the paper looks like an ancient treasure map. 

Here is the chair that has newly covered cushions. I love them. They match the curtains. I can't wait to sit here and rock with Graysen!

Nevermind the hole at the top of the wall. The vent cover needs to be put back yet I guess also. 

31 Bags to hold all of his burp rags, books, toys and diaper supplies like extra inserts and wipes. 

That empty space is where the small CD player is going but it's in the car right now to take to the hospital.

I love this little wicker lamp with a low watt light bulb to use during feedings and such so that we don't have to turn the bright light on. A small raku pottery pot adds to the world traveler feel and you can't have enough books!

Shadow, our miniature poodle, loves the room too! He checks the crib every morning and night to see if there is a baby in there yet. He sometimes just lays on the floor in there...waiting! 

Nursery Sneak Peak

Here is a Sneak Peak at our nursery. We started out having a Map/Eclectic World Traveler themed nursery, but it's ending up more like an African Safari/Indiana Jones theme but I LOVE IT!!

Here are some before/during pictures. The after pictures will hopefully be posted soon!

Here is bad view, but peak into the room that WAS a catch all for the junk that we didn't have any other place for. It all got cleared out to make room for BABY!!

 Here is the room cleared out and freshly painted. It looks so much bigger without a queen sized bed and a bunch of random stuff!! 

 Here is another "before" view of the room. There was a queen sized bed in here, but we took that out before these pictures were taken. It looks like a lot of work ahead...

 Here is the same view of the room but all of the crap is cleared out and the paint it done! Thanks to my parents, who came over while Tim and I were at work to paint! Tim just had to finish up a bit when he got home. 

 Here is a picture of the same spot, but the crib is up, (filled with some more stuff for the nursery) and decals are on the wall.  There will be a huge 55" x 35" antique map hanging on the slant above his crib and seafoam/aqua paper lanterns hanging over his changing table which is just to the left of the picture as an abstract globe mobile. 

 One last "before picture". I just noticed that our dog, Shadow, is mysteriously in this picture, snooping around at all of the baby stuff! 

 The same corner "after". I absolutely LOVE this giraffe decal! There will be a glider in this corner at well but the cushions are getting recovered to match the room. 

 Here is a foot stool that will be used in the room. I got it from my "sisters" and "surrogate mom" as a shower gift. It works perfectly in this room!  

Last but not least...I had to add a picture of Tim putting the crib together. We were a great team and it actually didn't take very long. Only one swear word muttered by me and not over the crib. Tim accidentally pinched my finger in the crib when he was trying to catch himself from falling over. He has the WORST balance. I love the crib too! It is so much prettier in person than the pictures show. I can't wait for Graysen to get to rest his precious little head in it!

LOVE this bedding. Love the colors, patterns and everything about it. I think it could be used for a boy or a girl. Probably more for a girl, but the colors are gender-neutral and match the rest of our house. I love the retro print in modern colors!

We decided on this crib because it is a crib, toddler bed, day bed or full sized bed all in one. It also matches the rest of the wood in our house. We like the craftsman/earthy style of it too! A little rustic meets modern. 

Nursery Ideas

These are some options that we are looking at for the nursery. The whole house is brown and green. We are thinking that is pretty gender neutral too. We are going to find out what we are having in a few weeks, but boy or girl, we are planning on doing green and brown. We love earthy/nature-inspried design so trees, leaves etc. are a must. We also want to incorporate owls somewhere into the nursery.The next step is cleaning out the room that will soon become the baby's room! That would be a good Christmas Break project.
